Common Stages of Construction or Renovation Project Management

Feasibility & Design

Before any physical portion of a project can begin, a project should undergo a feasibility study to understand the goals of the project and any potential challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle. Once a plan is in place, the project team creates design drawings and floor plans, working to define aspect of the project such as square footage, materials, colours, structural considerations, and work to prepare all the needed contract documents.

Pre-Construction

Once the project has received the official green-light to begin work, the project management team is assembled. Beginning with a site investigation to inspect and assess the building environment. Giving special consideration to elements like soil conditions, environmental impact, and historical integrity. The project team should also identify the project delivery timeline that needs to be met throughout each phase of the project lifecycle.

Procurement

At this point, a project manager would typically open the bidding to different contractors interested in the project. The Atlas Abatement team is able to coordinate and manages most, if not all, of those responsibilities within its existing team. This project stage is also where we begin to secure all the necessary materials and equipment for the job, establishing purchase orders with any suppliers or third parties that will become involved in the project.

Delivery

Once the construction project management team has finished setting the stage, we can then start to build. With Atlas, each project is assigned a superintendent who stays in close communication with the project manager, creating a direct line of contact between clients and job sites. We work hard to keep all our project partners on the same team, making it possible to deliver quickly, identify risks, communicate effectively, and solve project challenges should they arise during the project lifecycle.
